Developing your stroke
After learning how to shoot pool, next you need to develop your stroke. If you wants to advance in this game, you must have a good and smooth stroke.
Study the above figure and setup the drill.
Shoot the object ball in the corner pocket with a draw shot. If you have a good and smooth stroke, the cue ball should draw back to the opposit pocket.

Shoot the object ball in the corner pocket with a draw having slight left bottom english. You should be able to draw the cue ball without any difficulty. If you have a good and smooth stroke, you will be able to draw the cue ball back to the rail easily. If you really have mastered this stroke, you could be able to send the cue ball to the other rail.
Study the above figure and setup the drill.
Shoot the object ball in the corner pocket with a top spin (follow shot). You should be able to bring the cue ball back to bottom rail without any difficulty. If you have a good and smooth stroke, you should be able to control cue ball position as desired.
